We hope you’ve all enjoyed the beautiful weather we’ve had so far. Fingers crossed for a few more days.
What a summer we have been having already!
We would like to thank everyone who came along to the resident’s Summer Party on the 29th of June. We had an absolutely wonderful day. The weather was fantastic, the ice cream was yummy, and it was great to see so many of you enjoying the day with us.
The resident’s choir had their debut performance at the Summer Party and were very proud of themselves. We thought they were only fantastic and all their hard work and practice really paid off. Hopefully we’ll get another performance very soon.
Other than the Summer Party, we have been having a weekly Pop Up Tea/Coffee morning on a Friday for the residents in the staff house. The residents are really enjoying the occasion and love that the morning is out of the main house. The residents have great chats over a cuppa and a slice of cake and seem to love that they are special and the ‘coffee shop’ is specifically open to them. We hope to continue this on a weekly basis.
We have also had trips down to Tomhaggard and have been hosted by both Molly and Dolly’s, Bridgetown and The Hideout. Both mornings were lovely and both groups thoroughly enjoyed the little adventure.
Thank you all for your patience as we continue to upgrade Décor and spaces around the house. Our entrance hall is nearly finished its revamp and we plan to continue into the reception area next.
Over the next few weeks, there will be works going on in the Johnstown area (Above reception). As we did last year with two of the other sections, we will be extending the sitting room in the Johnstown area to create a larger and more user friendly sitting room for all the residents to enjoy. The works may take a few weeks but disruption will be as limited as possible and we hope the end result will be a fantastic benefit to everyone.
Over the last few months, Deirdre has been working on a project called to Key-to-me. I know some of you have already done this but those who haven’t yet; This is a way of gathering information about your loved one so that we can understand their personalities and engage with each resident individually to make everyone feel as at home as possible in their own way. I have attached a sheet of the key-to-me questions. It is an exercise that can be done at home, or with your resident or with Deirdre and the objective is to get as much information as possible. If you would like to go through the process with Deirdre, you can ask the reception and we can arrange a meeting. Alternatively. You could bring the form with you on your next visit, go through it with your loved one or simply fill it in on their behalf. The more info you can give the better and please just pop it back to reception.
So that’s our news for the time being.
You know where we are if you have any questions or if you would like to meet anyone in particular, please make an appointment at reception so that we can ensure to put time aside to speak with you uninterrupted.
Kindest Wishes
Jill
